Reference
The Reference is OpenPWA’s heart: a descriptive, continuously maintained knowledge
tree for Progressive Web Apps. Each entry is a canonical, source-backed fact page,
updated in place rather than left to decay like a feed. Eight sections cover the PWA surface
end to end; entries live at /reference/<section>/<entry>.
ManifestScope, display, icons, screenshots, shortcuts, share_target, and localization.
Service WorkerLifecycle, caching strategies, Workbox, and background sync.
InstallationInstallability criteria, install prompts, badging, and the N+1 problem.
CapabilitiesFile System, Web Share, Bluetooth, WebGPU, Payment, and more device APIs.
StorageQuotas, persistence, eviction, and the Storage Access API.
NotificationsWeb Push, permissions, and periodic background sync.
PerformanceINP / Core Web Vitals, View Transitions, and Speculation Rules.
PlatformsSafari/iOS, Chrome/Android, desktop, and Baseline 2026.
Every entry carries structured TechArticle + Dataset metadata and a machine-readable
.md twin, so OpenPWA becomes a source that search engines and LLMs quote. The
sections above are the starting skeleton, not the ceiling — the architecture is built
to absorb everything PWA over time.
